Academic Requirements:
Fully designated Chartered Accountant or CPA with 5 to 7 years of post designation experience
Experience in a technical accounting role in large CA firm would be preferred
Experience Required:
Strong familiarity with and experience in application of new financial instruments standards (Sections 3855, 3865 and 1530)
Practical experience with the application of FAS 133, FAS 115, IAS 39
Working knowledge of AcG-12, AcG-15, FAS 140 and FIN 46 would be a benefit
Comfort with risk management techniques and tools in a regulated financial services environment
Comfort with and experience in valuation techniques and methodolgies
Ability to work with senior management across the Bank with limited supervision
Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Good Communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential.
Job Description:
• Consultation with all business units across the Bank on the technical application of accounting policies around financial instruments (Section 3855)
• Provide guidance on appropriate classification of financial instruments, valuation methodologies, subsequent recognition and measurement
• Consultation with all business units across the Bank on the technical application of accounting policies around derivatives and hedging activities (includes Section 3865, FAS 133 and IAS 39)
• Preparation and/or review of hedge documentation
• Design and/or review of hedge effectiveness methodologies and hedge ineffectiveness measurement techniques
• Provide timely and accurate analysis of accounting results relating to financial instruments, derivatives and hedging activities
• Provide operational assistance and design well-controlled processes for facilitating the proper technical accounting – including the review of journal entries and effectiveness testing results where necessary
• Ensure complete and accurate disclosure is provided in all financial reporting issued by the Bank pertaining to financial instruments, derivatives and hedging activities
• Work closely with senior management to explain the business implications of accounting policy choices related to financial instruments, derivatives and hedging activities
• Work closely with external auditors to ensure they are on-side with accounting policy choices and application thereof pertaining to financial instruments, derivatives and hedging activities
• Be seen as a source of technical guidance by providing training and presentations in this area of accounting policy to the Finance professionals in the Bank
